“Without new experiences, something inside us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken.” -Frank Herbert
Experience is the best teacher as it gives us the ability to explore and discover many things. Through our experience, we can truly appreciate things in a deeper-sense and realize its significance and value.
For a few years, we have been meaning to try the lazy river, particularly the one in Penticton. I always imagine how it feels like crossing the channel connecting the two lakes, the Okanagan and the Skaha Lakes. I’ve been thinking about what would be my reaction when I am riding on the tube with my family. Would I be happy and overjoyed or would I be bored?
After visiting Penticton, another item on my bucket list was finally crossed out. I know, I just need to be more patient, and of course, I need to save vacation time and money for me to gradually fulfill my wishlist. It took me a while to get it done but the long wait paid off.
By the way, you have two options when doing the lazy river in Penticton. First, you can bring your floating device while your second car is waiting at the end of the river. The other thing you can do is just go directly to Coyote Cruises, and rent out the tubes. They have different sizes of tubes that could carry small to larger groups of people. At the end of the river, there is a transport vehicle waiting for you to bring you back to the start point wherein you parked your car.
Safety is always important here at Absolutely Filipino Magazine, so if you are not a strong swimmer, we suggest to wear your life vest all the time. You also need to stay on the right side of the water before the end of the channel or else you will be drifted away to the Skaha Lake wherein the high current of water is present on the connecting point of the river. We were informed by the staff of Coyote Cruises that some people were injured in that area. You have a choice whether you want to finish the whole trip or not, just look for the stop points at the side of the river to end the water activity. Also, don’t forget to apply sun lotion to prevent sunburns.

Depending on the flow of water, the floating can go from 3-4 hours or even more. It’s okay to bring some snacks and drinks during this activity. We brought a small cooler and placed it in the middle of our floating device. We ate are our food in the middle of our trip.
We realized that the bigger the group you have, the bigger the fun it will be. But then again, it always boils down to the people you are with. It depends on the kind of company you have. And that’s how you maximize your experience and make it more memorable.
Penticton is not the only place in British Columbia that offers this kind of water adventure. According to 604now, you can also experience the lazy river at Cowichan River, Shuswap River, Capilano River, Similkameen River, David’s Pool, and Thompson River. Feel free to share your summer adventure with us. Stay safe everyone!
